Splashing Across the Headlines

Young!Christian Bale makes newspapers hotter.

When not sending milky reverberations throughout the blogging world or shopping for cheap riding boots, I’ve been working. Here are five hot new items par moi.

Rawkin’ out on fruits and veggies

An interview with raw chef Ani Phyo, to go with her new cookbook, Ani’s Raw Food Essentials. This book is really accessible and very pretty. Ani herself is one of the sweetest people ever! She actually invited me to a book signing/cooking class she was giving at Matthew Kenney’s 105 Degrees restaurant in Oklahoma City (very short plane ride for me). I would have gone if it was on the weekend, but alas. But we’ve made plans to meet up when I’m back in LA.

Kids need to shape up this summer

Because of my family and personal history, this article was very important to me. Also, I got to interview Leigh Peele, one of the best (and funniest) personal trainers out there. Pfft, Wii should be paying me for the endorsement.

Back from Haiti and ready to do more

My Q & A with a missionary who has just returned from Haiti. It was really awesome to hear him talk about how the trip made him so much more grateful for things as simple as a hot bath.

Dressed to impress

The foodie in me is giggly over this. Basically, it’s the lowdown on how to make an awesome salad, starting with the dressing. I got to interview some wicked cool people, including the chef from one of my favorite restaurants, and Terry Romero, the author of the cute little cookbook Viva Vegan and co-author of the lauded Veganomicon. I look for experts, and vegans know their veggies. I learned many a thing about making salad dressing…and a few scary facts about the restaurant industry. If you’re looking for some good dressing recipes, check this sucker out.

Be sure to get your fill of vitamin K

Yeah, eat it, it’s important.

  1. Uh, take me with you. I wanna meet Ani, too!

  2. How cool that you had an opportunity to meet Ani. I have heard so much about her cookbook and I really need to check it out. She is gorgeous and I do believe that eating properly has a huge effect on her being so pretty inside and out.

You are doing great things over there in Houston Mimi! At the risk of sounding like your mom I must say, awesome job!

  3. Gaaaaaaahhhhh! I’m so jello of all your reporting and writing and publishing. I’m ready for summer to be over so I can get back in the game.
